You do not have to be your mother unless she is who you want to be.
You do not have to be your mother's mother, or you mother's mother's mother, or even your grandmother's mother on your father's side.
You may inherit their chins or their hips or their eyes, but you are not destined to become the women who came before you, you are not destined to live their lives.
So if you inherit something, inherit their strength.
If you inherit something, inherit their resilience.
Because the only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

Soccer, soccer, and more soccer!

Well... I haven't exactly been updating this well because of my busy schedule. Well here's the run down.... Our season ended promisingly and we did AMAZING in the Eden Prairie tournament, we got second :) kind of a cheap championship game but I'm not complaining! We worked really hard and we deserved the win... But our awesome medals cheered me up! Well this past week I've been getting up at like the crack of dawn to make it to drivers ed at 8:30 which is really boring... Then I had less than an hour of relaxation before I had to go to the high school soccer tryout prep camp for 2 hours. I also had soccer practice twice within a couple hours of camp! Pretty tiring... Then I had a soccer game yesterday at 6 in St Louis Park against Tonka United and we won off of a shootout! Not everybody made it from my team, but we still did great! Today I had another soccer game at 2 in St Louis Park against West Tonka which was the only team we had lost to in our regular season. The game was 1 to 1 and we had to go into overtime which was really exhausting! We just won districts and got a super cool dog tag! Now we have a regional game on Tuesday at 7. I'm really happy about getting a break from soccer for a day, but not looking forward to waking up for drivers ed. Wish us luck :)

I'm proud to be an American :)

Saturday the 3rd: Well I woke up pretty late but my family still wanted to do something so we got ready to go to Lake Calhoun but I guess we didn't. So my mom got me a book and I just read out in the gazebo pretty much the rest of the day.
Sunday the 4th: HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Well it's kinda late for that but oh well its still an important holiday! I spent the morning sleeping in bed and then the rest of my day was spent on the boat with my grandparents, uncle, cousin Ian, my parents, and sister. It may sound overwhelming to some, but it's fun for me! I really like being around my family. We haven't done something like this in a while so it was good to get the good ol' Jacobson family back together (well the part of the family that could fit on the boat). Anyways.... we went to Excelsior and guess what I ate.... A CORNDOG! Yes, the best thing ever on a stick. Well my craving wasn't satisfied even though I had 3 corndogs at Valleyfair I hope I can go to either Valleyfair or the State Fair sometime soon! After I got my corndog my mini family (dad, mom, sis) walked to the ice cream store in town to get ice cream. Yummy yummy! It was really good and I'm glad I got that. We boated over to Big Island and just relaxed for a while before heading home. We didn't see fireworks but that's okay! I had seen them earlier in the week and I had a horrible headache from them so I wasn't hoping to see them again.... well at least until next year!
Monday the 5th: I met with my friend Kara which was really good and then I went over to my grandma and grandpas for dinner. Dinner went well and we got to watch the Bacholorette on the big screen in the basement! I had a really great time and my grandma just makes me laugh :) In a good way!
Tuesday the 6th: Well I took my dog Sam for a long walk and let her go swimming! It was really fun until I got home and had to torture her by giving her a bath. I felt bad about it, but my punishment was spending the rest of the humid afternoon staying outside with her while her fur dried. I kinda made a few excuses to run inside! But I enjoyed my quality time with her! I also went to soccer practice which was a killer. I spent the rest of the night just.... relaxing.... how awesome.
I have the last game of the season tomorrow! ahhhhh! so excited! happy its a home game and we should win :)

I'm now a Minnesota Girl

Monday: Because of hurricane Alex the tides and currents were too rough to go surfing at 6 a.m. So instead I got to sleep in :) Once I got up we made a plan to go see my uncle Art's grave. But then my aunt's neighbor Mikey called and said we would be able to go surfing around 11. He picked us up and drove us to the Venice Beach Pier. The beach was quiet partially because it was a weekday and partially because the weather was horrible. The sky was overcast and a chilling wind pierced your bare skin with each force. I could barely carry my surfboard because it was so heavy and my arms were way too short to carry the board! So embarassing! Everybody noticed that my sister and I were from out of town. We couldn't catch any waves because the waves crashed too close to each other making it impossible for us to turn our boards and paddle in time. We went home quick to shower and then continued our plans to go to the cemetary. On the way we went to my favorite frozen yogurt place called Pinkberry and got into a fight with a lady who was in line with her evil imps. We reached the cemetary just after the sun FINALLY came out. My uncle's stone was beautiful. His spot was perfect, he was right by his favorite boxer Sugar Ray Robinson (I believe that is his name). We spent over an hour sitting there talking to him and eating our Pinkberry marveling at the nerve the woman at Pinkberry had to get so fiesty with my aunt. We walked around the cemetary looking at people's headstones wondering what their life was like and the family they left behind. We had to go up to the cemetary's office to let them know that some stones were completely covered with grass. My aunt was a little unsure at first about going but I told her she would want somebody to do that for her or her relative. While my aunt talked to the lady at the front desk and went to the bathroom my sister and I sat down next to a lady who thought we were celebrities who belonged in the movies, after we graciously thanked her she asked us if we were twins. I heard that so much out there! I honestly didn't think my sister and I were so twin-like? But anyways.... We had a good day! It was good to be there for my aunt because she really needed somebody. For dinner we had In-N-Out again and watched Rumor Has It until I passed out in Art's room.
Tuesday: We spent most of the morning getting ready to leave. Around 1 we went to the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade again and I got a shirt for myslef and a shirt for my mom! We left around 3:30 to get to the airport. Way too much happened at the airport and I don't really want to talk about it again because it gave me such a headache. We got to our plane just in time and my sister cried when we had to say goodbye. I choked back my tears because I had to be the strong one for my sister. Our flight back was quick and I was happy to see my parents again.
Wednesday: Not much happened during the day! I had a soccer game at 6 at Wayzata High School which we won! Then I raced over to Music in Plymouth and hung out with Marissa, Lily, Alexis, Alec, Cj, Jack, Justin, Collin, and Matt. We just walked around and watched the fireworks. Pretty good night.
Thursday: I cleaned my room and then went to Costco with my parents. After Costco my parents dropped me off at my grandma's. I gave her her presents from California that we made her and bought from Forever 21. We baked my cousin's favorite cookies and then went to Ulta where she got a cream thing and I got nail polish and a cute headband. We went home to frost our cookies and OMG they were good! I showed my grandma the basics of facebook and let her check up on some of my old friends. It was really nice spending time with her without my sister. I really enjoyed it. After I went home I went to soccer and got killed with sprints. I'm not exactly sure why they didn't work as they normally do but it just killed! The rest of the night I just relaxed.
Friday: My mom woke me up this morning because she wanted a friend! How cute! I spent the morning watching t.v. Then we went to Lake Minnetonka to go wakeboarding as a family but it was too windy. We spent two hours enjoying the sunshine and then went home to have a pizza night and watch Youth In Revolt which was a horrible movie. Now I'm just.... blogging :) Don't have any plans for tomorrow yet!

Daddy :)

My dad thinks I don't love him. But the truth is, I can't imagine my life without him. What would a daughter be without her father? Well I'm not exactly sure and I honestly never want to know. A lot of my friends don't have a close relationship with their fathers and hate them. Some think it's weird that I'm close with my parents but I guess it's just always been that way. Now that I'm older I'm really close with my mom. She's easy to turn to, but there's nothing like hanging out with your old man. My dad and I are like twins. Our personalities are very alike: we're both stubborn, organized, aggressive, strong, athletic, generous, humorous, and we love the finer things in life. Sometimes our personalities tend to clash because of how stubborn we are but atleast I have something that relates to my dad. In moments when I'm upset or make the wrong choice I HATE listening to my dad's advice. But when I'm alone and have time to reflect I realize he's always right on the ball. I honestly love my dad and I know he loves me, too. We may not always get along, but deep down I know we have an unbreakable bond. Daddy, I love you :)

In-N-Out and Hot Tubs :)

Well it took a while to make a plan this morning, but that was all good because it was really relaxing! We eventually decided to go to my favorite fast food restaurant ever called In-N-Out. It has the best fries in the entire world. I'm kind of glad that I don't live out here because I would become obese rather quickly. After lunch my sister and I walked over to the nearby grocery store to return a movie while my aunt got food for her friend. Crossing the street was a challenge! Turns out, people in California are extremely rude and busy. We popped home really quick to get our swimsuits and then went over to my aunt's friends' condo. WOW IS IT BEAUTIFUL. The place is probably the cleanest and nicest looking place I've ever been in. The owner of the condo is named Bas, he's from Holland. He has a thick accent but his eye for interior designing is unbelievable. For a living he decorates peoples' houses and he has great taste. After we saw the condo, we went down to the pool and hung out in the sun and went in the hot tub. I had a lot of fun and we left around 5. After that we went home and now we're just relaxing. We'll have to get up at 6 tomorrow if we want to go surfing so I'm kind of excited for that. I'm a little worried about the temperature of the water though! I'll let you know how it goes :)

Welcome to the Pier!

Well the day started out really really bad. The sky was overcast and the day wasn't looking like a good one. But our plan was to go to Santa Monica Pier. We spent most of the morning at home while my aunt and sister made bracelets, eventually we got super hungry so we decided to go to this restaurant right by my aunt's house. We walked past this one of her neighbor's houses and she wanted to go in and see if he would take us surfing tomorrow. At first I didn't really want to, I barely knew this guy so I didn't really want to go meet him. But it was worth it! Oh my god... You just had to be there.... His grandson was over and he turned out to be a babe! On my first trip out to California my parents took the kid's stroller to the zoo and they had pictures of me and Tristan playing at the park. Now, here he was 14 years later! He's 15 but he will be a freshman too. He lives in Orange County, California and I really hate him for that... But anyways... I totally embarassed myself. My one opportunity to impress him I totally screwed up. The boys were throwing around a tennis ball in the living room and somebody threw it wrong and it landed by me. So I picked it up and attempted to throw it back. But I was in the kitchen that has lower ceilings compared to the open-high-ceiling living room so when I over-hand tossed it to Tristan it bounced off the wall of the kitchen and hit my aunt in the face. Whoops! I was so embarassed! My sister didn't make it any better after she threw another one and it hit Tristan's cousin in the face. But we still got invited to go see fireworks with them, which we sadly had to decline. Lunch was really good and then we went to Santa Monica Pier with my aunt and her 10 year old neighbor Veronica. It was really busy. We went on the roller coaster and unfortunately it was kind of lame compared to the ones I'm used to in Minnesota. But we still had fun. I sat next to this Mexican guy with dreadlocks on the roller coaster and thank god I got a picture! After Veronica got an ice cream cone we went back to the car. Now I'm at home eating licorice that Tristan's mom brought over that we stole... haha. So now I'm pretty sure I'll be going surfing in California on Monday which I'm pretty excited about! But I'm not too sure yet because I still have a fear of surfing.... But I'll let you know what I do! I'm not yet sure what we will do tomorrow. Something fun for sure! I miss home though, I want my mommy and my puppies!!!! God... I'm such a baby :)
